Ygeiartos: Promoting eco-innovation in Greek dairy production
In general
The «Ygeiartos» project under the operation titled: "Knowledge Transfer for the valorization of goat milk and espresso coffee leftovers for the production of high value-added products, with innovative yoghurt dessert as a starting product" is implemented in the framework of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020.
It is included in Sub-measures 16.1 - 16.2 for "Establishment and operation of EIP Operational Groups for agricultural productivity and sustainability" under Action 2: "Implementation of the operational plan of the EIP Operational Groups for agricultural productivity and sustainability"
Objectives
- Upgrading of goat milk with the production of eco-innovative products of high added and nutritional value.
- Strengthening pro-environmental agri-food production.
- Providing to farmers an incentive to remain in the profession - new prospects for farmers (increased income, enhanced competitiveness, penetration into new markets and expansion of exports).
- Strengthening the development of agri-food in the Region of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace.
Results
- An οperational Plan to improve the competitiveness of goat milk producers.
- Studies for the well-organised start-up of production on the premises of the cooperative(s) and market entry of biofunctional foods
- Development of an Innovative high value added food product.
- Adding value to espresso coffee leftovers, which due to the rising coffee consumption in Greece, poses a substantial environmental challenge.
